About
TUESDAY’S HORSE is a weekly online publication of the Int’l Fund for Horses (IFH), bringing relevant news and views to horse lovers and advocates.
PROFILE
The Int’l Fund for Horses (IFH) is a non-profit equine advocacy organization with constituents in the US, Canada, the UK and Europe. We are dedicated to enhancing the welfare and status of all equines by working to get stronger equine protection laws into place, enforcing existing laws and acting as industry watchdogs. The Int’l Fund for Horses is a 501(c)4 non profit charitable corporation.
HISTORY
IFH began in February 2003 with a grassroots group called Texans for Horses and a network of anti-horse slaughter advocates from around the United States. We formally organized as a non profit charitable corporation in October 2003 as The Fund for Horses, subsequently becoming the Int’l Fund for Horses in June 2004. IFH is headquartered in Houston, Texas with offices in New York and Washington D.C.
OPERATING STRUCTURE
The vast majority of our staff, including the President’s, are telecommuting, or virtual, positions whose duties are completed, in whole or in part, via email and the Internet, on their own computer. Our staff are based throughout the US, Canada, the UK and Europe.
This gives our staff the flexibility they need in order to work for us, and also gives IFH the freedom to recruit from among the very best talent available without being restricted to geographic location.
In operating this way, we save on office overheads which allow us to use the highest percentage of the financial contributions we receive to fund programs and campaigns that impact the lives of the horses it is our mission to protect.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of IFH is to promote and safeguard the health, safety and welfare of equines worldwide, domestic and in the wild.
IFH is dedicated to ensuring that humane standards are set and kept relating to the working and domestic life of all equines from the beginning to the end of their lives. We are particularly committed to ending horse slaughter for human consumption wherever it exists.
Additionally, IFH are devoted to the conservation of wild horses, mules, donkeys, burros and zebras in their natural habitats.
POLICY STATEMENT
IFH is firmly committed to fulfilling its mission statement through peaceful and lawful means. Therefore it will neither knowingly nor willingly participate in or condone, incite or promote others to participate in unlawful or un-peaceful activities, nor will it harass, encourage others to harass, or support those who do.
